Psalm 23\u00a0(ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name\u2019s sake.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the in the house of the\u00a0Lord forever.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Devotional Reflection<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s something deeply calming about the image of a shepherd. Not a boss. Not a distant ruler but A\u00a0shepherd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A shepherd knows every sheep. Watches them. Leads them. Protects them. Makes sure they\u2019re fed, rested, and safe. And here\u2019s the wild part\u2026 David doesn\u2019t say \u201cThe Lord is a shepherd.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says: \u201cThe Lord is my shepherd.\u201d This is personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means you are not wandering through life hoping things work out. You are being\u00a0guided, provided for, and protected even when it doesn\u2019t feel obvious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Life Feels Tight<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI shall not want\u201d doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll never\u00a0desire\u00a0anything. It means you will never\u00a0lack what you truly need. Not always on your timeline. Not always in the way you expect. But always in alignment with what your soul actually requires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes provision looks like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Strength when you\u2019re exhausted<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Peace when nothing makes sense<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Doors closing that would\u2019ve drained you<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Unexpected help at the exact right time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    God doesn\u2019t just throw resources at you\u2014He leads you to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Still Waters & Restored Souls<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cHe makes me lie down in green pastures\u2026\u201d Notice that wording. He\u00a0makes\u00a0you lie down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Because sometimes we don\u2019t rest unless we\u2019re\u00a0forced\u00a0to. We push. We hustle. We carry everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And God gently says: \u201cSit. Breathe. I\u2019ve got this.\u201d The green pastures and still waters aren\u2019t just physical provision. They\u2019re\u00a0emotional and spiritual restoration. This is the kind of peace that doesn\u2019t depend on circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Walking Through the Valley<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cEven though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Not\u00a0if. Even though. God never promised a valley-free life. But He\u00a0did\u00a0promise: You won\u2019t walk it alone. The valley is not your home. It\u2019s a passage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And notice this shift? Earlier David talks\u00a0about\u00a0God. But in the valley, he talks\u00a0to\u00a0Him: \u201cYou are with me.\u201d Because pain has a way of making God feel closer than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Protection & Overflow<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cYour rod and your staff, they comfort me\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The rod is his protection. The staff is his guidance because God is not passive in your life. He is actively:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Guarding you from what you don\u2019t see<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Redirecting you when needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Fighting battles you don\u2019t even know exist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      And then this part? It’s so beautiful:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \u201cYou prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Not after the battle. In the middle of it. God doesn\u2019t just rescue you. He\u00a0honours you openly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Overflow, Not Just Survival<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

      \u201cMy cup overflows\u2026\u201d God\u2019s plan isn\u2019t just survival mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      It\u2019s\u00a0overflow. It’s peace that spills into your kids. Provision that stretches further than it should. Joy that sneaks up on you in the middle of ordinary moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Final Promise<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

      \u201cSurely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life\u2026\u201d Not\u00a0might. Not\u00a0sometimes. Just our right… Surely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      And not just follow. The original meaning leans closer to\u00a0pursue. Goodness and mercy are\u00a0chasing you down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Prayer<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

      Father God,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Thank You for being my Shepherd. Thank You that I am not alone, not forgotten, and not without direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Even when I feel uncertain, remind me that You are guiding me. Even when I feel lacking, remind me that You are providing. Even when I walk through valleys, remind me that You are with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Help me to rest in Your care, To trust Your timing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      And to believe that what You have for me is enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Let my life reflect Your peace, and let my cup overflow, not just for me, but for my children and those around me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I trust You as my Shepherd Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
